What do you love most about writing for Harlequin Desire?

I love that I can go all out writing my modern day fairytales starring uber-alpha males who are always billionaires, sometimes princes or sheikhs or tycoons, who find their match in independent heroines who give them a run for their billions and bring them to their knees, while taking the reader to exotic lands full of fantasy and glamor, setting my stories in opulent surroundings while telling a scorchingly emotional and passionate love story.

What do you think makes a good story?

Complex characters with plenty of internal conflict, a relationship that has everything working against it, an irresistible emotional connection, a searing physical attraction and a setting that showcases all that. External conflict can also be thrown in to raise the stakes. 

 

You write about exotic places in Desire– what is your ideal holiday destination?

Actually, I've lived most of my life by the sea, and traveled a lot, visited most of Europe and Asia, so while I love to write about exotic places like those I've lived in or visited, now my ideal holiday destination is some place where I can relax, somewhere cool and mellow. :-)

Anywhere you haven’t travelled you would like to go?

I might like to someday visit South America and Australia. Though I'm now content exploring areas closer to my current home in California.

What one item do you always pack when you travel?

My books, to give away to people I meet, and lavish night gowns and their accessories from shoes, to handbags to fashion jewellery. Oh, and makeup!

Tell us a little about your current release …..

CLAIMING HIS OWN is the story of Caliope Sarantos, whom my readers met before in Aristedes Sarantos-her eldest brother's book THE SARANTOS SECRET BABY. She told me that she had a secret and even her brother knew she was keeping one that even with his massive power, he couldn't find out. It turned out this secret was her affair with Maksim Volkov, a multi-billionaire Russian steel magnate. They fell in lust at first glance, but because of both of their complex pasts, neither wanted anything more than a affair. Or so they thought. When she becomes pregnant a year into the affair, it changes everything. Though Maksim insists he'd make the baby his heir, he as adamantly insists he wouldn't take part in its upbringing, but that he wants to remain her lover…until she doesn't want him anymore. Unable to end things with him, she agrees to his terms. Still, two months before she gives birth…he disappears. Then a year later, he's back, offering what he never did before…but when he tells her why he left, what the future might hold for them if she agrees to become his wife and let him be their son's father… a rollercoaster of emotions and angst and passion and heartache ensues. 

I really hope my readers enjoy this book as much as I loved writing it. It's been getting fantastic reviews.
