Why did you decide to
submit to Kindle Press?
As a new author without an agent, I found it was difficult to get
my work noticed. I’d entered a few
writing contests and I received some positive feedback, but no contract offers. I’d self-published a couple of short stories through
Amazon, but with a full-time job and squeezing in writing time around my work
schedule I didn’t have a lot of time for marketing. When I saw the announcement about Amazon’s
Kindle Scout program, I knew it was perfect for me, and I had to submit to
them.
How it came about?
I saw a blog post that featured the Kindle Scout program, along with
a link to the Kindle Scout website, www.kindlescout.com.
I immediately checked it out, and submitted my manuscript. After that things happened very quickly. Within a few days, I received an e-mail
letting me know “The Billionaire’s
Bodyguard Bride” had been accepted for a 30-day campaign. Then the fun began, as Kindle Scouts had an
opportunity to sample the first 5,000 words of my novel, with the option of
nominating it for publication if they enjoyed it. A few days after my campaign ended I got the
amazing news that Kindle Press wanted to publish it!
Please share your
experiences with Kindle Press?
I could not be more delighted with my Kindle Press
experience. The Kindle Press team has
been utterly amazing. They’re
professional, responsive, organized, and incredibly helpful. Best of all, they truly care about both their
readers and their writers. Inviting readers to have a voice in selecting the novels
they’d like to see published is truly groundbreaking. I think it impacts publishing for the better!
Please share about
your book?
The Billionaire’s Bodyguard Bride” follows covert protection agent
Lauren Reynolds, and handsome Greek billionaire Rafe Dimitriou as they overcome
the personal demons that stand between them and a lifetime of love. These
two strong-willed characters, both have hidden agendas. Theirs is a story of unexpected second
chances and a revenge plot gone wrong; of secrets and passion, all laced
with a hint of suspense.
While I spent time with Rafe and Lauren, recounting their romance,
the other men and women of the Sentinels Agency began clamoring to have their
stories told, as well. I left the Mendacci mystery that plays a small
part in this book open-ended, and its threads will be woven throughout the next
books in the Secret Sentinels series.

Congratulations on getting the release, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteThanks, William! It's a dream come true, thanks to the Kindle Scout program. I know my manuscript would still be collecting dust if not for KS.
DeleteIt's so nice there are programs out there that are helping new authors to get published... I wish you much success xox ♡
ReplyDeleteIt truly is, Launna. (And I just have to say that I adore your name...lovely!)
DeleteAwesome! I'm enjoying this story right now - lots of fun!! :)
ReplyDeleteSo excited to hear you're enjoying Rafe and Lauren's story, Jemi. I had tons of fun writing it! Lauren's brother Luke, and Rafe's newly discovered sister, Brianna, are the next couple in Cupid's sights. :)
DeleteCongrats on the book, I love that cover The dress is amazing. Sounds like a great book.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary. The dress stole a piece of my heart. :)
DeleteCongrats, Lisa! I think I saw you on another blog this week, too, but I don't remember where.
ReplyDeleteHi, Nas :)
Hi Carol!
DeleteThis is my debut novel, so I'm dropping by some special blogs to meet fellow romance enthusiasts.
Congrats, Lisa. I love the concept of your book.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Kelly!
DeleteI've been curious about this program for a while--thanks a ton for your insight! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome, Meradeth. I'd go the Kindle Scout route again in a heartbeat. Such a fabulous experience!
DeleteCongratulations! That's interesting to hear how Kindle Scout worked for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cherie. KS is an amazing option for authors!
DeleteI have a question Lisa- after I read about Kindle Scout, I saw they want you to use your own cover, so is this your own cover or they do covers, editing etc?
ReplyDeleteHi Nas,
DeleteAuthors can use a cover they've designed, or a cover they've purchased e-book rights to. I went with a licensed image from RomanceNovels.com, because this cover captured the romance of Rafe and Lauren's story in a way that I couldn't begin to match with a design of my own.
Regarding copy edits, the first handful of authors in the program have had the benefit of a professional copy edit. The program does state that manuscripts should be edited prior to submission.
DeleteThis is the second blog post I've seen for this book in the past couple days, so it looks like Lisa is making the rounds. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting about the Kindle Scout program. I never heard of it before, so I'll have to file that info away for future reference. Thanks!
Hi Susan! Thanks so much for the well-wishes. :)
ReplyDeleteVery interesting to see how reader power made this book the success it has become. Well done. Lisa! :-) I wonder if the same opportunity exists for non-fiction with Amazon Kindle?
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
Hi! I don't believe Amazon has opened the program up to non-fiction yet, but I believe they are accepting suggestions for the program at their web page.
DeleteLauren and Rafe look like interesting characters. That's great about the series.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Medeia. It's going to be fun writing about the adventures of the men and women of the Sentinels agency.
DeleteCongratulations, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Liz! :)
DeleteI loved hearing about Lisa's experience. I didn't know much about the process with Kindle Press. So excited for her that her book was selected for publication. Awesome! :)
