Ball gowns or plain dresses?
I’m a plain dress wearer, who longs to wear ball gowns. Unfortunately, I’m constantly spilling or tearing or losing my clothes (don’t ask—or you could, but I’m not telling). So, in my closet are the well-worn pieces of clothing I wear every day, and beautiful pieces that rarely see the light.

Where is your favorite place to write?
Anywhere, but home. I truly love somewhere busy where I won’t be disturbed, like on a train or in a museum.
Favorite snack to eat while writing (or reading).
Popcorn! I’ve been known to make that stuff at 10 am…or 3 am.
Hot and Humid or Cold and Snowy?
Love anywhere cold and snowy, and if I can feel the sunshine on my face at the same time? Happy place!
What is one book everyone should read?
This is a trick question because there are libraries full of good books to choose from. I’d rather answer the question about my lost clothing...
What's next for you?
I’m still writing more stories for the Lovers and Legends series. They’re all standalone, but they weave together like a tapestry, or rather they’re smooshed together like a really yummy Eton Mess. It’s mostly a convergence of families and enemies. Any character you read will just about have their own story with returning cameos in other books.
Tell us a little about your book...
Mercenary knight Rhain wanders the lands, fights for coin, and is haunted by his past. Then, in a wreck of an inn, he tastes a cake made sublime with honey, and rescues a woman he wants more than any sweet. But with a vengeful warlord pursuing him, he’s merely a dead man awaiting the sword.
Helissent’s family died in a tragic fire; and she bears the scars for all to see. When she’s forced from her home, she bargains with the traveling mercenaries to take her to a different town, even though, disfigured and shamed she survived when her family didn’t, she knows she’ll never have a better life.
Along the way, both Rhain and Helissent reveal their pasts, and begin to long for a future. But with the enemy pursuing them both, is it too late?

Sounds like fun - love the cover.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was very pleased with the cover, too! What's your favourite all-time snack?
DeleteThat sounds like a really good story.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I loved writing this story because it haunted me, and I had a very hard time letting the characters go... (So, I'm busy writing cameo appearances in my current story).
DeleteThe book sounds interesting as was the interview!
ReplyDeleteand I entered the giveaway!
DeleteThank you so much, and I'm crossing fingers now!
DeleteCongrats to Nicole.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love celebrating Rhain and Helissent's story....
DeleteCongratulations, Nicole. And thanks for sharing a titbit of Rhain and Helissent's story with us. Hmm. I don't like dressing up, so botheration that I will have to just a little for the RWA Conference this week. Aargh!
ReplyDeleteThat's usually why I have anything glamorous in my closet: conferences, events, etc. Loads of high heels, which make no difference since I'm short and everyone else is in heels, too... I hope you have a grand time at the conference!
DeleteI like long skirts over dresses. I like all kinds- and fancy ones are fun- just as long as they aren't expensive. :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great book. Awesome cover and the story sounds interesting. Best of luck to Nicole. (I have been on a popcorn kick for about a year.)
~Jess
Thanks Jess. Yay to the popcorn kick! I may need other seasoning besides salt though. Any suggestions?
DeleteI like the cover!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was perfect since Helissent has severe scars along the right side of her body. I was wondering how Harlequin was going to provide a cover!
DeleteOh man I am in love with the idea of owning a lot of extravagant ballgowns too, but my budget won't let me :( And I wouldn't know where to wear them to!
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky because for the first time I can almost justify some fancy clothes for I'm one of the authors attending the Historical Romance Retreat https://www.historicalromanceretreat.com. But compared to the other authors there, I won't be nearly extravagant enough! Sigh...
DeleteI also have some beautiful clothes that I almost never wear. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteYour book sounds charming. :-)
I take mine out every once in a while and wonder why am I wearing the same grey top & black leggings when I could be wearing this! (Then I cook, and remember!). :-)
