Kate Cuthbert on Escape Publishing!

We have Escape Publishing's Managing Editor Kate Cuthbert with more information on this digital-first division of Harlequin Australia. Over to Kate ...

Hi Nas,

Thanks for inviting me to tell you a little bit about Escape Publishing!

On the 14th of November, Harlequin Australia launched its digital-first arm, Escape Publishing, with an aim of bringing Australian and New Zealand voices and stories to the world, Escape is taking submissions in all genres of romance, as long as the story has a romantic arc and an emotionally fulfilling ending. But that's our only restriction – our digital-first publishing model gives us the flexibility and freedom to take some risks and explore new areas, as well as publishing some truly fantastic traditional romance.

The imprint launched with five titles across the spectrum of romance, and will publish six more titles in December.
The launch titles are:

Chains of Revenge by Keziah Hill, a dark erotic fantasy novella.

Chaos Born by Rebekah Turner, a complex, darkly humoured urban fantasy debut.

Christmas Wishes by Rhian Cahill, a sweet, sexy, sensual holiday romance novella.

Grease Monkey Jive by Ainslie Paton, a groovy, meaty, modern contemporary romance.

In Safe Hands by Lee Christine, a sophisticated, polished, suspenseful romantic suspense.
Or see here for Escape Publishing launch titles!

All Escape Publishing titles are available without DRM or geographic restrictions, from major and local e-booksellers. They are specially priced for the launch at the moment, so if you'd like to give us a try, now would be a great time to do so!
If you would like more information, please visit the website, www.escapepublishing.com.au, or find us on social media: facebook, twitter, and pinterest.

Thanks so much for hosting me – I can't wait to hear what you think.

Kate

    1. Hi Shelley!

Escape Publishing is awesome in that it's looking for all type of stories. All the books released by it would be DRM free with no geological restrictions.

As a Carina Press author, you'll have a new author home nearer to your home!

  3. Nas, do you know if they're willing to look at a manuscript that has been previously published but the rights have been returned to me? I couldn't see the answer on their website.

  5. Hi Kate and Nas, my question is must the author be Australian or from New Zealand, or might you consider other authors who base their stories in Australia/NZ?

    1. Hi Sally
Although our focus is on Aussie and NZ voices and stories, we do accept international and internationally set stories as well - just as long as they fit the 'romance' requirements!

      Thanks
      Kate

  8. I'm particularly fascinated by the fact that Escape has offered a market for shorter fiction. I know quiet a few writers who would be interested and I plan to spread the word...

  9. Hi Nas! Hi Kate! This is all so exciting. I, too, like the variation in word limits on offer. I for one have both novella-length and 50.000+ word novels I'm polishing ready to submit to Escape. And I am spreading the word. Do you think Kate would guest on my blog, Nas?
Laura is doing well with readers on my post. :D
