Our Spotlight is on Jacqui Jacoby and she has a giveaway for you!
A kick-ass, rockin', retired homemaker who finds comfort and confidence in her self-proclaimed vanity and ego. Coming from years of being told no you can't, I found myself at one point talking back with "Wanna bet?" I have an imagination off the charts that goes back further than anyone can imagine and a slew of friends that only I can see and hear who tell me their stories and politely ask me to write them down. I like me. I am very proud of the fact I'm fifty-one, I have a family I adore and a career that fulfills my dreams.
Who is your favourite author?
Caroline Dunsheath, Kelly Ann Riley and Clive Cussler. All of them gave to me more than any of them ever realized.
Do you listen to music while you write?
Usually. An Empty Nester whose husband travels a lot, I find myself sometimes in days of silence. The music helps with the conversations I am having with my three cats and our dog. And yes, even for them, I still get up, get dressed in leisure wear, slippers and my hair is done with make-up on. I think the cats like it. Not sure about the dog.
What type of music?
I have a Playlist I use. It's about eighty songs long with everything from "Hanging By a Moment" to "Bat Country" to "When You Say Nothing At All." If I am really working and want to disappear in my mind and not so much as *hear* the music but *feel* it push me along, I fall back to my roots and hit The Bay City Rollers.
What does 'romance' mean to you?
I have been married thirty years and romance can mean so many things. It can be fun, like a hike shared with just the two of you to a hidden location and a picnic breakfast. It can be practical like a surprise set of new snow tires because he was worried about my safety. It can be the fact that after all these years we still have a Friday date night. He is fifty-one now, a third degree black belt who still, to this day, works out three days a week and man, I still have it lucky!!
What do you do to relax?
Currently? I hang out with vampires, but they are the nice kind so we are friends. I am currently working on a story that defies the existing vampire mythology. The four book series is about five best friends committed to each other through loyalty, devotion and honor. The fact they are vampires incites their actions when trouble arises. It does not define their humanity. When I need to relax, I disappear into their world and all the troubles melt away.
Tell us about your book...
Exhausted from a job gone wrong, CIA Operative Jaime Walsh heads to Hawaii to escape the reality of her life and re evaluate what comes next. What comes next for her, though, is her best friend and partner of eight years, Stephen Larsen following to check up on her. In the tropical world of play and steamy nights, boundaries are tested and a friend turns into more. Jaime and Stephen find their happily ever after and leave the Agency until a friend proves to be an enemy out for blood and comes after them both. It is only together, and with the help of friends, that they will make it through the wild action that used to make up their lives.
WITH A
VENGEANCE
The more she wanted out, the more they dragged her back in!
Daughter to murdered CIA officers, niece to a deputy director, Jaime
Walsh has never known life outside the world of espionage. Until a high-action
case in Buenos Aires leaves her gutted. Physically, emotionally…and
professionally.
She’d planned for her long-overdue vacation to be a time to rest and
reassess. With her longtime partner Stephen not far behind, it’s a tropical
paradise away from work. A paradise where boundaries will be tested.
From their training days, Stephen Reid has watched Jaime kick ass while
performing what has become his second job—watching her back. But now his
feelings have grown.
As best friends look at each other in a new light, they like what they
see. And Jaime dreams of a new life outside “the company”.
Except someone from their past won’t be satisfied until Jaime and the
man she loves are hunted to the brink of death. Now Jaime must find the
strength to trust her heart and let go of her fear. Before she loses everything…

ReplyDeleteHi Nas!
The thought of it was pretty scary at first, and yes, I cried the first two weeks and then it was "No one needs anything while I type ... humph ... and .... and my house has been *spotless* since it's just the hubby and me!! Go figure!! LOL
DeleteSounds interesting! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. Tried to keep it exciting.
DeleteNice interview, ladies!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a terrific book. Here's to much success with it. I'm impressed with the whole make-up thing when you're just hanging around the house with the cats and dog. Our cats wouldn't appreciate it at all. (The little ingrates!)
Vanity is a hobby ... LOL

DeleteJaime and Stephen's story sounds intense.
ReplyDeleteI hate being told that I can't do something.
I guess it's not a totally bad thing. Nothing motivated me faster!!
DeleteAll the best to Jacqui with her book.
ReplyDeleteI like music but I'm certain I'd find it distracting while writing. There is one thing about all authors, though: we are single-minded. No-one can tell us we 'can't'.
Fun interview! Wish I could hang out with vampires. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt does depend on the vampire, don't forget. Some might be a fun, lasting relationship, but mine, wouldn't hurt a fly ... well ... unless the fly attacked them first!!
DeleteWonderful to hear from Jacqui. She sounds like she enjoys every minute! Her book sounds intense and interesting. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Thank you very much!! It was my pleasure to be here and meet all you interesting people!!
DeleteSounds like an interesting read.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It was alot of fun to write!! I hope you enjoy it.
DeleteYay - Jacqui. Ever since I read Dracula, I'm all about the vampires. No such thing as too many stories about them. Bring it.
ReplyDeleteWait a minute... computer ate my answer here. Even think that are out to get you? LOL ... I never read Dracula, though I listened to part of it on tape. My guys are different than Dracula, but they do have a blood hound named Vald!! Go us!!
DeleteHanging out with vampires sounds fun. I haven't tried that in a while--decided I needed to get some sleep during the dark hours. ;)
ReplyDeleteLoving the sound of the book.
Thank you. They are all so willing to die for each other loyal that they are a lot of fun to be around. I guess that's why I go to them to relax.
DeleteI loved her take on romance. She's so right on. It can mean so many things.
ReplyDeleteThank you. That is a nice compliment. I think it comes from so many years with the same person, knowing each other so well. I like sliding into the bed after he's already asleep and just hearing him breath ... it's a sound a know real, real well.
