Over to Robyn now...

Who is Robyn Rychards?

Just your average nerd who loves romance, suspense and sci-fi.  I am a bookaholic, love watching television and movies even though it’s not fashionable.  If I could survive on eating anything in the bread family without gaining 10,000 pounds, I would be completely content.

Who is your favourite author?

This question is SO hard!  Who knew?  It really depends on what I’m in the mood to read.  However, I’m going to go with one who has stood the test of time, Sylvia Thorpe.  Which probably has many of you wondering, WHO???  She wrote historical romance.  I read her books as a teenager and have never forgotten one of her stories, The Sword and the Shadow.  A few years ago I hunted her up on eBay and bought a bunch of them.  Decades later, they are just as good, even though writing styles and stories have changed.  I wonder if they’ll ever reprint them?  Thank goodness for eBay and used book stores!

Do you listen to music while you write?

No, I don’t.  Though music can inspire me with a story and put me in the mood to write, I can’t listen while I’m writing because I enjoy the music too much and end up singing along and not concentrating on my story.

What type of music?

Well, since I don’t listen while I’m writing, I’ll tell you what inspires me to write.  And this really makes me feel lame to say… Hehe!  I enjoy Neil Diamond, Bryan Adams, Pink, Maroon 5, Michael Buble, Elton John, Train, Shania Twain, Queen.  All the corny romantic stuff mostly, but not Bruno Mars, Michael Bolton or Dan Fogelberg.  I have to draw the line somewhere…

What do you do to relax?

It goes without saying that I like to read, but I also really enjoy watching television.  I have satellite and a DVR so there’s always something I can watch.  Does it make me sound better if I say it helps me with my writing?

Tell us about your book.

There were a lot of things that intimidated me about writing this book.  The suspense aspect was probably the biggest one with the second a tie between the abuse-victim heroine and the psychiatrist-hero.  However, I think I pulled it off for the most part, and you’re going to love Paisley and Sterling.  Neither one of them want to be involved with the opposite sex, but they can’t resist each other.

Her Knight In Shining Armour

She may not need a knight in shining armour to save her, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to look a gift knight in the visor...

Paisley doesn’t need a knight in shining armour to rescue her from her high-powered, abusive ex-husband. She’s got it covered on her own: she's changed her name, liquidated her assets, and has a plan to disappear in the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Psychiatrist Sterling James has absolutely no intention of being anyone’s saviour. The only woman he has any time for is his sister. But circumstances change when Sterling finds Paisley in an unexpected and life-threatening situation. Brought in to the drama of her escape, Sterling finds himself invested, and he can't move on until he knows Paisley is going to be safe.

It should be a simple enough exercise to get Paisley out of the park and into her new life. But nothing is ever as simple as it should be, and Sterling soon discovers that even if her ex-husband buys the set-up, he might not be able to watch Paisley go...

  2. The book sounds good, Robyn!

Well, if you'd admitted you liked Michael Bolton, we would have to set up an intervention.

    1. Glad you like the sound of it Elizabeth. I'm a sucker for happily ever after. I don't need to entertain myself with real life. I can live that. Though not to be mistaken with realistic. I certain want my stories to feel like it COULD happen. :D

  5. I have been hearing a lot of great things about this book! Wishing Robyn the best of luck. :) I like a lot of the same music! I can listen to music when I read, but I can't listen to all music because I can get distracted!

  6. I love the cover. Also, it sounds like what intimidated you the most were the most tense parts. Sometimes I wonder if I'm being suspenseful enough.

    1. It is SO hard to tell with the suspense. I had the same worry when I was writing this, but the feedback I've gotten tells me that I managed to create some suspense. I love my cover too! Thanks!

  7. Sounds like a wonderful premise, Robyn, and with the backdrop of Rocky Mountain National Park. Can't wait to read it.

I can't listen to music when I write either. I can either be involved with the story or the music. For relaxation, I try to go outside...by myself...for a walk. This is hard to do with five children.

Good luck with the publication of your romance, and thanks, Nas, for this wonderful interview. ~Victoria Marie Lees
