Who is Donna Michaels?

I’m a wife, mother of four and a multi-published author/screenwriter of Romaginative Fiction. I write romance through the H’s—Hot, Humorous, and Heartwarming. Married to a military man for over 28 years, I have a soft spot for military heroes, and sometimes heroines. Even though I love several romance genres, right now, I’m concentrating on contemporary and contemporary westerns.  You can sign up for my newsletter and/or find out more about me and my books at www.donnamichaelsauthor.com

Who is your favourite author?

Hands down, Jill Shalvis! Love her hot heroes, her real heroines you can relate to, but most of all, her humor! When I grow up I want to be Jill Shalvis.

Do you listen to music while you write?

Only if there are a lot of people around when I’m writing. I use instrumental music to drown everyone out. If there are lyrics then I tend to get distracted. lol While plotting, though, I do listen to music to help form a scene.

What type of music?

As far as plotting, it would depend on the scene. If it’s a kickass scene, then I love rock and heavy metal like AC/DC and Metallica, and sometimes The Matrix soundtrack. Love scenes get love songs, if I’m writing cowboys I use country music, if it’s general contemporary then I use pop love songs.

What do you do to relax?

To relax I read, especially if Jill has a new book out, I also love to watch TV and movies. Once Supernatural, Upon A Time, Sherlock, Doctor Who, NCIS, Hawaii Five-0, Big Bang Theory, Vampire Diaries, Sleepy Hollow, The Walking Dead, Faceoff, Ghost Hunters,  Pawn Stars, anything on both History Channels, and the list goes on and on.

Tell us about your book...

HER FOREVER COWBOY is Book 4 in my Amazon Best Selling Harland County Series set near the Texas gulf. Unruly cowboys and the women who tame them. Kevin, the cowboy in this book, was an unusual write for me. The extremely handsome cowboy is part owner of a horse ranch but he’s also a brilliant computer programmer who is the vice president of his buddy’s Billion dollar software company, McCall Enterprises. Nicknamed the Casanova cowboy, he loves women of all shapes, sizes and ages (as long as they are of legal drinking age). He’s likes to make them happy, to see everyone happy. He is not self-centered, but he does have some secrets and hidden pain he hides behind jokes and ready smiles. It’ll take two girls to bring this cowboy to his knees. My heroine, Shayla has been through hell with a violent father who was jailed for the abuse. She’s a single mother whose fiancé died in Iraq under Kevin’s cousin’s command. Shayla arrived in Harland County seeking help from the cousin because her father is out of prison and looking for her, her daughter, and her sister.  Shayla clashes with Kevin. They’re combustible. She puzzles him and he loves puzzles. By the time he figures her out, Shayla has re-written Kevin’s code and, together with her baby girl, they gain access to his heart.

    1. Thanks, Jess! Metallica helps me flesh out fight scenes. I didn't listen to them while writing my Harland County Series, though. lol
