This week's Author Spotlight is on author J. K. Coi and In Bed With The Competition. Please welcome J. K. Coi...
Who is J.
K. Coi?
Nobody really. Just a girl…standing in front of a boy…asking him to—oh
wait, that’s a movie. LOL
JK Coi is a mother, a wife, an author. There’s nothing special about her
except for her imagination. And then that’s where things get interesting. My
imagination carries me through the everyday, helps me understand people, helps
me relate to people. And it’s the basis for my passion, my career, and my
future. So when it comes down to it, JK Coi is all about that.
Who is
your favourite author?
I have a bunch of favourite authors. I like different authors because of
different things. For example, I love Stephen King for being the author who
introduced me to adult fiction (when I was only 13). He kick-started that
imagination of mine and got me reading. Even if it was mostly horror fiction,
he showed me what real fiction could be like because at the time YA was not
what it is today. Over the years I’ve loved other authors too. I love Diana
Gabaldon for her ability to write epic romance spanning lifetimes, and I love
Nalini Singh for her ability to create intricate paranormal worlds.
Do you
listen to music while you write?
Not really. I’m susceptible to distractions, and if I listen to music,
I’ll end up listening to it instead of working, and then before I know it it’s
three hours later, I’m all dressed up and out dancing and my husband is asking
me if I’m coming home tonight.
Just kidding. It’s not that bad. I’m in a program now.
What type
of music?
I like all kinds of music, but I don’t relate much to country music. I
mostly listen to heavy industrial beats and hard rock.
What do
you do to relax?
That’s really a thing? Hehe.
When I need to relax, I go to the other side of the book and be the
reader. Usually on the dock by the lake. We have a place up north that
epitomizes relaxation for me. There’s quiet, and no internet, and lots of
inspiration.
Tell us
about your book...
In Bed with the Competition is the
story of two former friends who were on the verge of something more, but then
they went into the same business as rivals, and realize that they can’t ignore
the past…and they can’t ignore each other.
JK Coi
Here’s the blurb!
This rivalry is too hot for the tropics…
Elizabeth
Carlson and Ben Harrison used to be friends,
coworkers...and almost lovers. But that was before Ben proposed
mixing business with pleasure. Elizabeth refuses to lose her heart to a hotshot
tycoon with a cutthroat, take-no-prisoners attitude. Not with the prospect of
starting her own company at stake.
Driven
to succeed in all areas of his life, Ben couldn’t resist the temptation to make
Liz his. But then she walked away, igniting a bitter rivalry. Competing
for the same contract at a Caribbean conference ignites sparks too hot to
ignore, and Ben’s determined to finish what they started, even if it’ll only
last a few steamy, tropical nights.
Elizabeth’s
resolve begins to crumble under Ben’s blatant seduction. Can she walk away from
a hot island fling with the sexiest man she’s ever known with her heart intact,
or will losing herself in Ben destroy everything she’s fought to achieve?
