1 If you have a pen-name, can you explain how you came up with it?

Carole Mortimer is actually my real name. Well, to be specific it was my name when I started writing in 1978. I have since remarried, but continue to use my previous name for writing purposes.

2 What are a few things we would find on your desk?

I don’t have a desk as such. I always do my writing sitting at the breakfast table in the kitchen. I write best when I have people around me. During work hours, which is usually 9-1, Monday-Friday, you would probably find my diary, laptop, and my coffee cup – I drink lots of coffee while I’m working. I don’t have notes and other stuff, my research and writing is all inside my head.

3 What motivates you to write?

The storyline for the next book always appears inside my head about halfway through the book I’m currently working on, so once I’ve finished that book, I’m always ready to start on the next one. I love writing romance novels, in any genre, and the ideas just keep coming, and I really want to write them.

4 Share something of yourself no one else knows?

I seriously can’t think of anything that no one knows about me. Something that not too many people notice, perhaps? I have the top of my left index finger missing, from an argument with a bicycle chain when I was 2 – the bicycle chain won!

5 Tell us about your book?

Shadow Alpha, the 3rd book in the Alpha series is my 200th book. I’m still surprised by that – it just snuck up on me. The hero is Dair Grayson, a tough English ex-Special Ops guy, who is asked to find, and if necessary rescue the heroine Kat Markovic. The Alpha books are described as hot – very hot! - dark, and dangerous, and Dair and Kat’s story completely fits this description!
