Spotlight on Ciara Knight, Rescuing a Healer's Heart

This week our Spotlight on Author: Ciara Knight. She has a new book out, Healing the Veteran

Ciara Knight
is a USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestselling author who writes heart-tugging, faith-filled romance with a dash of hope and a whole lot of love. When she's not wrangling swoon-worthy cowboys or crafting small-town drama, she's navigating life as a proud mom of three spirited (and now grown!) boys.

In a major plot twist no one saw coming, Ciara and her tech-savvy husband recently traded in their empty nest for open waters—purchasing a boat to live aboard full-time. Together, they’re setting sail on the greatest adventure yet: the next chapter of life, love, and a few waves of inspiration. Anchors aweigh!

Who is Ciara Knight?
Ciara Knight is a USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestselling author of emotionally layered romance. With over sixty books to her name, she’s built a loyal readership through stories centered on family, faith, redemption, and the courage to choose love. When she’s not at her desk, Ciara lives aboard a trawler with her husband, navigating coastal waters and repairing their boat in exotic locations — a lifestyle that continually reminds her that both boats and hearts require maintenance, grit, and grace.

Do you listen to music while you write?
I do — but mostly instrumental. Living aboard a trawler means I’m often surrounded by the natural soundtrack of water, wind, and the hum of the engine, so I’ve grown to love ambient background sound. When I’m writing, I’ll play cinematic instrumentals or atmospheric tracks that match the tension or tenderness of the moment. The rhythm helps me sink into the scene without pulling me out of the characters’ emotions.

What do you do to relax?
To relax, I get in the water. Living aboard our trawler means I have access to some incredible places, so paddle boarding at sunrise or slipping into clear water to swim alongside sea turtles is my reset button. There’s something humbling about sharing space with dolphins or watching a turtle glide past you. It slows everything down. It reminds me that life is bigger than deadlines and plot twists. The ocean has a way of washing stress away.

Healing a Rescuer’s Heart is a story about second chances—for a wounded veteran, a struggling single mom, and a troubled stray dog who needs as much healing as they do.

After a devastating injury ends his military career, Logan Brock feels unmoored and unsure of his purpose. Agreeing to help his best friend run a dog rescue farm seems like a temporary solution—something useful to do while he figures out what comes next. He’s used to serving, protecting and leading. He’s not used to feeling sidelined.

Virginia Chapman is a hardworking vet tech and devoted single mother doing everything she can to raise her strong-willed son, Tyler. When Tyler clashes with Logan during one of Virginia’s visits to the farm, sparks fly—but not the romantic kind. Yet Virginia begins to notice something unexpected: Logan’s quiet patience, his steady presence, and the way he instinctively guides without overpowering. She sees in him the kind of mentor her son desperately needs.

As Logan, Virginia, and Tyler work together to rehabilitate a frightened and reactive stray named Bravo, they begin to form a bond built on trust, compassion, and faith. Training Bravo isn’t just about obedience—it’s about learning to face fear, rebuild confidence, and believe that broken things aren’t beyond repair.

At its heart, Healing a Rescuer’s Heart is about family found in unlikely places. It’s about a man who believes his worth ended with his injury, discovering that his greatest mission may be right in front of him. It’s about a mother learning she doesn’t have to carry every burden alone. And it’s about a child and a dog who help two adults rediscover hope.

If you love stories filled with faith, emotional healing, strong community, and a sweet, hard-earned romance—plus a very special rescue dog—this book is for you.

They weren’t looking for love…
until a four-legged friend came along.

After a devastating injury derails his military career, Logan Brock agrees to help his best friend run a dog rescue farm. When vet tech Virginia Chapman brings her defiant son, Tyler, on her rounds, things initially don’t go well. But the single mom appreciates Logan’s patience toward her child and recognizes an opportunity. Logan soon becomes the mentor Tyler needs as they all begin to bond over the care of a troubled stray dog. But will rehabbing and training Bravo be enough to help them overcome old wounds…and consider a new future together as a family?

  12. What a sweet premise! Sounds exactly like what I need on one of those grumbly days.

I love the ocean too! It's just too far away and I freak out when in the middle of it with nowhere -- landwise -- to go.
