1. What
literary pilgrimages have you gone on? I have travelled to Italy and France and
Greece and other parts of Europe and the UK and US to bring authenticity to my
foreign settings. I also spend a fair bit of time writing at our beach house,
as I find the peace and tranquillity really enhances my creativity. Or maybe
it’s the rhythmic sound of the ocean in the background!
2. What
is the first book that made you cry? Black
Beauty- I absolutely howled! These days, it takes a lot for a book to make
me cry. Movies are different as the music can have a powerful impact on your
emotions, so it takes a skilled writer to do that to a reader.
3. What
is the most unethical practice in the publishing industry? I think judging in
writing contests is not as objective as everyone would like to think. We all
come to a book with a bias, often unconscious, but just as often not. But
piracy is probably worse. Downloading intellectual property of any kind is a
crime.
4. Does
writing energize or exhaust you? It does both! I love crafting a story and
seeing the characters come to life as I type. But I often enjoy the book more
at the revision stage, once I have done most of the hard work.
5.
Tell us a little bit about your book... Bound By A One Night Vow is a marriage
of convenience story where my heroine Isabella Byrne will lose her entire
inheritance if she doesn’t find a husband in a hurry. Her late father’s protégé
and her sworn enemy, Andrea Vaccaro offers her a temporary marriage. But the
sparks that fly between them threaten to burn their ‘paper’ marriage.
Bound by a One-Night Vow (Conveniently Wed!)
“Marry me or lose everything.”
The Italian’s outrageous proposal
Heiress Isabella Byrne is on a deadline. She has twenty-four hours to wed or she’ll lose her inheritance! Her father’s protégé, hotel magnate Andrea Vaccaro, knows she can’t refuse his arrogant proposition for a temporary union. They’ll
seal the deal at the altar that very night. But with their ever-smoldering attraction bursting into flames, can Izzy risk surrendering to the temptation that awaits her between Andrea’s sheets?
Indulge in this passionate marriage of convenience!

Nice interview and the book sounds good
ReplyDeleteI think you are the only author I have heard/seen describe the revision process as preferable to the writing. Fascinating.
ReplyDeleteThe book sounds fun too.
Sounds like a great book. I wish Melanie lots of success with it. Valerie
ReplyDeleteBest of luck, Melanie!
ReplyDeleteGood answers, Melanie!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a yummy book! I wish you much success with it.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the revision stage of writing, too. It may take a long time to get that first draft done, but then you have something concrete to work with, and that is sooooo much easier. You can't edit a blank page. :)
Sounds like an interesting book for sure!
ReplyDeleteI agree- piracy is so bad and just wrong. Interesting interview!
Best of luck to Nas!
