Hi Nas! Thank you so much for inviting me to discuss my new release, LovingYou Is Easy! Don’t you just love the cover?

For those of you who don’t know me, I started out writing medical romance for Harlequin Mills and Boon, which is how I met Nas. While I still write for Harlequin, under their Cosmopolitan Red Hot Reads line (check out The V-Spot HERE),  I’m thrilled to also be writing for Random House’s Loveswept line. Loving You Is Easy is my first book with them.

And now for Nas’s questions:

Who is Wendy S. Marcus?

I am a mother of three, married for twenty-six years this past October. I’m also a registered nurse, although I’m not currently practicing. I am a huge procrastinator. (Everything gets done eventually!) I love social media. (And spend WAY too much of my time on Facebook and Twitter.) I have a Bichon Frise named Buddy. (My children insist he’s spoiled – and he is!)

Who is your favorite author?

This is such a difficult question because I am such a voracious reader and have so many authors whose books I enjoy. But my number one instant buy is Jill Shalvis. I absolutely love her books!

Do you listen to music while you write?

I do not listen to music while I write, but I do find inspiration from songs. One of my favorites is Heartbreak by Hunter Hayes (which is now playing while I type!) Here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BYu7gugd2Y

What do you do to relax?

I’m not a big TV watcher but I do enjoy NCIS along with some reality shows like Survivor, The Little Couple, Hell’s Kitchen. I also enjoy reading, playing spider solitaire on my computer or doing Sudoku puzzles, usually with a nice glass of cabernet!

Tell us about your book.

Brooke is a 24-year-old junior high school math teacher from a wealthy, upper class family. Shane is a 25-year-old blue collar bad boy turned soldier in the U.S. army, serving his fourth tour of active combat duty in Afghanistan. The two met as part of a “Support Our Troops” initiative that matched U.S. soldiers serving overseas with pen pals from back home.

Now you’ll have to read Loving You Is Easy to find out what happens after Shane returns home wounded (without telling Brooke) and after one of the sexy pictures she gave to him winds up on Facebook where her students and their parents and her principal see it.

Here’s the book blurb:

She's a survivor of the front lines of politics. He's a wounded soldier returning home from the battlefield. Can they place their trust in the power of love?

Nobody plays the role of perfect politician's daughter better than quiet, respectable math teacher Brooke Ellstein. But she won't be caught swimming with the sharks again, not after the son of a wealthy donor sinks his teeth into her and gets away with it. Still, political connections have their perks, such as heading up the governor's "Support Our Troops" pen-pal initiative--and getting first dibs on the smoking-hot sergeant whose picture shakes her right down to her goody-two-shoes.

When corresponding with sweet, classy Brooke, Shane Develen instinctively hides his commando tattoos and blue-collar roots--and he can tell that she's hiding something, too. But Shane knows he's gained her trust when Brooke gives him a blisteringly sexy photo. Then he's injured in an ambush and a fellow soldier posts the snapshot online. Overnight, Brooke's reputation turns to ashes. Even though he's totally wrong for her, Shane shows up on Brooke's doorstep, determined to set things right--and discovers that right or wrong has nothing on the chemistry they share.

  1. Well, that sounds like a fun read! Hmm, my favorite type of hero? I'm pretty boring: I really go for the stand-up guy, preferably on the nerdy side, lol!

Nothing wrong with a stand-up guy on the nerdy side. Nerdy can be hot! And I'm all for a guy with good character.

Janet Overstreet: I like Jill Shalvis, Hunter Hayes, and NCIS. ...and don't take sexy pictures if you don't want them to end up of FB!!!

  4. The new book sounds terrific. Matter of fact, after recently writing a short story along the same line (the first face-to-face meeting between a soldier who's returned from war and the woman who wrote to him while he was away) I liked it so much, I've been toying with the idea of expanding it into a novel. Only I'm an older gal, so "my" war is Vietnam.

My favorite kinda romantic hero? A smart and clever toasted marshmallow... crusty on the outside, and soft and tender on the inside. Doesn't take any guff from anyone, but is extremely gentle with children and animals. (Kinda like my husband.)

And yep, I can't listen to music while I write either. At least, not music with lyrics.

And I'm used to quiet when I write. But I'm so used to working from home I can usually write with background noise from my family, too.

The original NCIS is my favorite. But after that I'll watch New Orleans before I'll watch the other one.

  17. HI, Nas & Wendy,

    Congratulations on your release, Wendy.
Like you, I find inspiring songs for my book, but don't listen while I write.I like a hero who is big on protecting his woman, even when he has issues of his own that make life complicated.

  20. Lovely to meet a passionate reader of romance, Nas. My favourite romantic author is Georgette Heyer, but I have to portion out the amount of time I can read with looking after my husband and writing my children's books. But I do try to read as much as I can as this obiviously helps improve my own work.

I'm a very passionate reader. Although I don't read much when I'm involved in writing a manuscript - which stinks!!! But it pulls me out of my story.

I am a total spider solitaire addict. I get so obsessed. The next game, I'm going to win the next game. I play on the most difficult. Each time I win I tell myself, that's it, you're done, don't play again. But I always find my way back!!!

Thanks for the congratulations and for stopping by!!

    1. Thank you Medeia. May I share a secret? At first I didn't like the cover. Yes, it's true! But that was because the couple on the cover didn't mesh with what I'd imagined my hero and heroine to look like. Once I got over that I fell in love with the cover. It's so romantic and suits the story perfectly!
