What are a few things we would find on your desk?

Calendar, chocolates, paper with pieces of ideas written down, lamp glass paperweights, pens and more often that there should be an ice cold coke.

What motivates you to write?

My characters. They just don't let me rest until I've told their stories.

Share something about yourself no one else knows?

I don't like ants and I believe they are secretly plotting to take over the world.

What was your favorite scene to write?

I loved writing the scene where Larz takes Marcie's punishment. It showed his character.

Tell us about your book…

It's about Larz and Marcie, who both battle to live with her lack of honour. Larz never thought he'd have a woman who didn't have honour, that he would shame his bloodline like that. And Marcie wants to be a woman of honour, for him.

    1. Denise, I loved writing the scene but at the same time it was difficult. I just wanted to grab him and get him out of danger.

  2. The book sounds interesting, an imperfect heroine!

    1. Christine, she's a very imperfect heroine. I really worried that the readers would be so turned off by her in the second book that they wouldn't give her a chance in the third book. She makes a very small appearance in the second book but boy did she tick people off.

  3. I have nothing against the ants, its the cockroaches and lizards that I dislike. Love the sound of your book, the title is very intriguing.

    1. Rachna, I have to admit cockroaches freak me out as well. But the ants more so. They are so organized and I've heard of cases where people were attacked by ants and died. I love lizards though. I have sample chapters up on my website if you want to read the first four chapters of the first two books.

  4. I absolutely hate ants and wouldn't be surprised if they were secretly plotting to take over the world. I am a sucker for alien stories and I like the sound of this one a lot.

    1. Mary, you and I are soul sisters. I KNOW those little beasties are plotting our downfall. And they do it deep under ground where we can't get at them. I love alien stories as well. Have you read Last hour of Gann. Its heavy going but that book really impressed me. Also Star Crossed.

    1. William, most people laugh at me about the ants and I would say I'll get the last laugh but I'll be too busy trying to figure where on earth one can hide from them once they take over.

  6. Congratulations Marie. Love hearing about characters demanding that their story is told.

    1. Hi Elephant's Child, love your name by the way. R.Lee Smith has an excellent blog out every Wednesday about writing. In the last one she said she always wondered what people think who doesn't write. When you put on the kettle or do any other normal day things. I have characters talking and ideas floating through my head. Until she mentioned that I never thought about it but now I always wonder what other people think.

    2. Perhaps it is better NOT to know what is going on in non-writer's heads. When all is said and done, we don't have your option to exorcise the demons...

    3. Yes, if all else fails we can write a story and have that demon die horribly.

    1. Thanks Tammy, I can resist cake and any other sweet thing but not chocolates. I love Cote'd Or. The ones with the nuts and have been known to drive the extra mile to get my hands on it. It an all purpose thing. Book coming out to celebrate, eat a chocolate, got a rejection from a publisher, eat a chocolate and so forth.

  8. Congratulations on your book! Mmm, Cote d'Or chocolates are awesome...

  9. Thanks Deniz. I lived in Rabat in Morocco for four years and one day I found these chocolates in a small shop and when I got home I ate one and it was so good I got in my car immediately and went back and bought loads more. I gained so much weight that winter. It was my first winter there and I was lonely and didn't know my way around yet so my company and comfort was Cote d'Or chocolates.

  10. Ants are trying to take over the world? That's good to know. I'll get my stock of cheese now and settle in for the invasion. ;)

    1. Crystal, no don't settle in, run. I just don't know where one hides from them. They get into everything.

  11. I love the feeling of being tormented by characters. :-)

    Greetings from London.

  12. A Cuban in London, I love that feeling too until the deadline gets closer and some of them are either hiding from me or changing the story on me.

  13. I'm interested by the lack of honor tension. Ooh, chocolates. I don't think I could have them on my desk. I'd eat them all, lol.

  14. Medeia, the Zyrgin's are merciless but are ruled by their sense of honour. They make it difficult for me sometimes when I want to go one direction and they insist on doing something else. I've never been able to eat just a little bit of chocolate. So I end up buying way more of it than I should.
