Once I confess this everyone will know it! But here goes... I put on makeup and do my hair even when I am going to be home alone all day.

What was your favorite scene to write?

I really enjoyed writing most of this book but one scene that sticks out is the one at the airport when the zip on Clem's bag breaks and her clothes and underwear tumble out in front of Alistair. Clem has OCD and carries her favourite blue and white striped mug everywhere with her when she travels. Even though the scene is in Alistair's point of view, I wanted to show the panic Clem experiences when she can't find her mug and also, how Alistair observes and comes to understand her behaviour.

Tell us about your book…
Bookshop assistant Clementine Scott swore she would never see or speak to Alistair Hawthorne ever again after a humiliating night during her teens. But when her younger brother and Alistair's step-sister run away to the French Riviera together, she has no choice but to go with him to find them. Forced together for a week, they have to face the sizzling attraction that flares between them. But will a week-long fling be enough, or will these two archenemies finally settle a decade old score?

  1. Congratulations Melanie. This sounds like a fun read.
I have to confess I never wear make-up any longer. Whether I am going out or not. I poked the mascara wand into my eyes one too many times.

  2. I thought I'd pop over to the romantic side of things. So glad I did. Enjoyed your post and got a great laugh from Elephant's Child. Down with mascara wands.

  3. That's sounds like a fun premise for a story.

  4. I used to do the hair and make-up every day until I started working at a zoo. As soon as you drop a hose wrong, you get a blast of water in your face (or up your pants if you are unlucky). That job cured me of needing make-up.

The aspect of a character with OCD sounds interesting.

  5. Congrats to Melanie. I can imagine that OCD scene. This looks like a great read.

  6. I don't wear makeup when I am home all day- but I know a lot of people who do. I keep it fairly simple when I am home and don't do much until I am getting ready to leave the house. Fun to learn more about Melanie. Wishing her the best of luck!

  7. HI Everyone,
I'm sorry I can't reply to each comment individually ( deadlines!) but thanks for posting. I love hearing from you all.

  8. I know lots of people who won't leave their room in the morning until their hair is done and their makeup on.

That scenes sounds interesting. I could see how that would be a panic inducing moment for her. I'm all tense just thinking about how devastating for her it would be to lose that mug.

  9. I put on my makeup and do my hair even if I don't have anywhere to go, too. It just makes me feel better.

  10. Yeah, no makeup here. Maybe when the kids are older...or out of the house. Too much insanity around here to spend 20 or 30 minutes in the bathroom making myself presentable.
