Spotlight on Dani Collins and Awakened on Her Royal Wedding Night

Our Spotlight on Author is on:  Dani Collins. She has a new book out this month, Awakened on Her Royal Wedding Night.

Award-winning and USA Today Bestselling author Dani Collins thrives on giving readers emotional, compelling, heart-soaring romance with laughter and heat thrown in, just like real life. While she is best known for writing contemporary romance for Harlequin Presents and Tule’s Montana Born, her latest release is The Prospector’s Only Prospect, a Western Historical romance from Entangled Amara. When she’s not writing—just kidding, she’s always writing. Dani lives in Southern BC, Canada with her high school sweetheart husband.

What inspires you to write?

I love story. When I listen to music, I always gravitate to the songs that tell stories. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had people in my head, playing out their imaginary lives so I am compelled to put them onto paper.

What is your favorite genre and why?

I love romance. I prefer stories that have an uplifting or at least a satisfying ending so that’s one reason I love romance. Another is that I love the interplay of relationships and learning how people compromise so they can be together. I also love that romance provides such a wide canvas. I’ll read almost anything from shifters to small town so long as it’s got great characters and lots of spice ;)

Share a little about your writing process.

Sometimes I’ll start a book months before I intend to write it, especially if it’s linked to another book. I like to get a taste for the characters and premise even if they’ll only have a page or two in the current manuscript. A lot of the time, I’ll write up a brief background history for the hero and heroine and some conflict points. I may even write a full synopsis, depending on the project and publisher.

Once I’m focused on a specific story, I like to write in the mornings. I usually push to get the first three chapters written, then I’ll go back and smooth out wrinkles before I do another fifteen thousand or so. I usually aim for two thousand words a day and regularly go back to the beginning to fine tune motivations, conflict and emotions.

By the time I read The End, the book is usually hanging together structurally and only needs a good polish before it’s ready for submission.

Tell us about your book...

Awakened on Her Royal Wedding Night was inspired by my love of Harlequin Presents. I was coming off the intense project of four linked books in my Four Weddings and a Baby quartet. I made this standalone book an ode to some of my favorite tropes like a Royal hero, a beautiful, virgin heroine and lots of drama. Claudine leaps off a boat and washes up on Crown Prince Felipe’s beach. Palace intrigue ensues that forces her to marry Felipe. Felipe has an evil twin who threatens Claudine’s life and they wind up in a duel for her honor. I hope you love it!

  4. It's always interesting to hear about an author's process, and about what they themselves like to read.

  16. Just a couple of months ago, I gave this relationship doctor Robinson buckler a try. It was my last hope to get my ex husband back.

Weeks before my ex left me and our 2 children, there were a lot of argument and fighting between me and him. On the day he left me, he told me that he doesn't think he loved me any more and this was not working. I was so devastated hearing this, I begged him not to go and I even promised that I would change. But he made up his mind already. He packed his bags and left our house.

I tried calling him and texting him to tell him I miss him and still love him. I asked him to give us another chance. He slowly stopped replying to my messages and stopped picking up my calls.

I then searched the internet on how to get ex back, and even bought a few products such as text your ex back and ex recovery system. Nothing worked, and my ex was still very cold towards me.

When I was about to give up, I found Robinson buckler ex back program. He is a relationship coach with a lot of success stories. I knew what I needed was not a book but a coach to guide me how to make my ex fall in love with me again. I immediately signed up for his program.

In the first couple of days, I made a lot of good progress. I am happier and more confident. My ex saw the positive changes in me, and started to talk to me more and even asked me out for dates.

Fast forward two weeks later, my ex told me that he wants to give our relationship a second try. I was beyond happy when I heard that.

Now, we are closer and happier together. It would not have happened without Robinson buckler help.
